Tell us about your job role at Gorilla
My role at Gorilla is Digital Marketing Executive. My duties include creating content and marketing strategies for clients and Gorilla’s own social media. I also write blog content and help with the Apeshit podcast.
How did you get into the industry?
After completing a degree in Media Production at the university of Lincoln, I got a job as a runner for Blue Peter. I realised I wanted to learn more about social media marketing, so took a job with Brewdog as a social media “maverick”. After working with Brewdog for two years, I wanted more responsibility and Gorilla hired me.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
I really like how no week is ever the same. It’s such a creative job so one week I could be creating content, and the next writing blog posts or making videos and podcast episodes. It’s always something different.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love all things horror. So you can usually find me watching scary movies, or playing Amnesia. I also have a podcast about true crime and craft beer (called ‘Dying for a Pint’ if you want to check it out), so spend a lot of my time planning content for that.
Tell us the most interesting fact you know
I know A LOT of facts about alcohol from working at Brewdog, but an interesting one is why a shot is called just that. In the old West of America a shotgun shell cost the same amount as a glass of whiskey. If someone was short on money it became common to exchange a bullet for a drink, which became known as a “shot” of whiskey.
What’s your favourite film / TV show?
My favourite TV show is definitely between Game of Thrones and Doctor Who. I have no idea what my favourite film is so here’s a top three: Wolf Creek, Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean 2.
What are your favourite tunes?
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I’m pretty sure Japan is my favourite place in the world and I haven’t even been yet. I desperately want to go more than anything! I love their food, culture and anime.
What’s on the menu for your last meal on death row?
I’m lactose intolerant so I’d probably end it in style with the biggest Fettuccine Alfredo you’ve ever seen in your life and a whole keg of Asahi!
